Upon discovering she couldn't learn to surf, Lara Neich left her hometown of Sydney, Australia and moved to New York. Lara handles all things design at Polarr, specializing in UX and UI. Now based in San Francisco, she is once again trying to learn to surf and climb walls.
Patrick is a full-stack engineer supporting Polarr from Australia. He currently works on the backend stuff, but in his spare time, he does a little bit of everything, even tinkering with electronics. He loves all sorts of games, be it video games, board games, or even social deduction games.
Professional Coffee Getter
Aditya is a rising Junior at Stanford University studying Computer Science with a concentration in AI. He grew up in Dallas and is a huge fan of the Mavericks and the Cowboys. At Polarr, he is working on the AI research team as an intern. Outside of work, he enjoys pickup basketball, dancing, and making regular visits to Taco Bell.
All things analytics
Alex grew up in a small and quiet city in Taiwan. Spent a brief time pursuing a career in finance before stepping into tech. Alex then decided to move to the Wild Wild Texas for his MBA and is now part of the growth team at Polarr in CA. His previous adventures include 500 Startups and Deloitte. Alex enjoys baseball, photography, and traveling alone.
Breaker of Code, Finder of Bugs
Studied Game Design at the Vancouver Film School, but has spent the last 7 years focusing on Software QA. Prior to Polarr, he spent 6 years at Electronic Arts working on payment systems and spent some time at a financial tech startup. When not finding bugs, he can be found training in Taekwondo, diving down in Monterey, or reading.
Head of Product
Studied computer science at MIT but spent the last years learning how to design useful products and understand customers' problems. Previously co-founded SimplePrints and led it for seven years until it was profitable and 20 people-strong. Loves learning languages and new technologies.
Chief Everything Officer
Borui Wang is CEO and founder of Polarr. He is a die-hard photographer graduated from Stanford with a master degree in HCI/AI. Besides building Polarr, he also loves collecting headphones and his hometown Beijing.
Cameron is an AI Engineering Intern at Polarr excited about applications for machine learning on the edge. He is concentrating on AI at Stanford and enjoys beatboxing in his free time.
People and Ops - US
Clement, a SoCal native, now firmly rooted in the Bay, handles all things People, Recruitment and Business Ops for the US arm of Polarr. Before Polarr, he managed People Ops and Recruitment @ Ditto Technologies, a startup in the AR space. A graduate of CAL, he finds great delight in poking fun @ Stanford, though recognizes the fact that Sanford football > CAL Football. During his off time, Clement enjoys “being a foodie,” engaging in discussions about random topics, reading Wikipedia articles, concerts, cars and has recently taken up photography.
Recognized as one of the best Android developer making products used by millions in China, Colin is leading all efforts of Android development and integration tasks in Polarr. He loves racing, body-building and good food.
Director of Vodka
Daniel is the vodka developer and UI guy of Polarr. All the way from Moscow Russia, he is the maker of Simplify for Mac and he still owns a ZX Spectrum.
Daping focuses on Polarr SDK for Android. Before Polarr, he worked in blockchain technology and always believes Bitcoin will be the future of internet money.
All the way from Toronto, @derek earned his undergrad degree from U of Waterloo in Mechatronics Eng and Graduate degree in EE from Stanford. On his spare time, Derek enjoys reading history novels, helps out at his home church Santa Clara First Baptist, and follows his hometown sports teams: Leafs, Blue Jays, and Raptors.
Head of Web Architecture
Gexin hails to Polarr from China. He is the person responsible for all things backend at Polarr. Gexin lives by one rule - Intelligently do stupid things and foolishly do intelligent things.
Jake of all trades
Jake is a software engineer living in Barcelona. He brings experience from the engineering team of a high growth startup, as well as HCI research projects, a digital design agency, and a film post-production studio in the UK.
Jenny works at Polarr as an Android developer, she focuses on Polarr SDK platform to make it more usable for developers and customs everywhere. Prior to Polarr, Jenny worked at Tencent China for four years. Jenny is a lover of sweets and runner (’cause of all the sweets). She also enjoys playing video games, you can find her in Summoner's Rift when not working.
Johannes works remotely as an AI researcher from Germany and Spain. He studied artificial intelligence in Barcelona and is now trying to teach computers to do the thinking for him. At Polarr, Johannes investigates and implements new models and approaches while trying to keep up with arXiv. In his free time, he enjoys climbing, hiking, and making music.
Jonathan hails from North Carolina, bachelors and masters in electrical engineering from Stanford, getting Ph.D. in computer science at UBC, hobbies include exercise, martial arts, animation, and graphics, working on ML research in regards to image processing at Polarr.
Lia works on the enterprise side of product at Polarr. Before joining Polarr, Lia has spent time working across QA, software development, and product management. Outside of work, you can find Lia living life as a fashion blogger on Instagram (@anotherdaylia).
Mark came straight from USC with a degree in Computer Science and Business Administration to create the iOS apps of Polarr. When he’s not revolutionizing the App Store, he climbs up rocks and makes short films.
Full-stack engineer at Polarr, Tauseef has a masters degree in Entertainment Technology from Carnegie Mellon. He insists that the whole of world wide web be refactored to functional programming paradigms. In an earlier life he used to be a street-photographer in India, a deckhand in Alaska, and a cat-petting enthusiast.
Life is all about cycles. I grew up the midwest, escaped to California for 9 years, and now I'm back, this time in Minnesota, to take more abuse from the weather. In another cycle, I started my career at startups, spent several years at Global Mega-Tech Companies, and now am back loving startup life. Outside of work I spend time with my family, I bike when it's nice, woodwork and make apps the other nine months of the year.
Resident Chess Player
Former physicist and machine taught chess player, who now trains machines. After cutting his teeth on the Irish tech scene, he decided on a Polarr shift. Fan of The Foundation Trilogy and Greg Egan. Enhance specialist and occasional homebrewer.
Silicon Valley native, filmmaker, and musician. Learning how to build worlds from a young age; he honed in on mobile development and full-stack, finding them as key mediums of development expression. Leading him to start two companies, an iOS app and a e-commerce solution, creating beautiful physical products to compliment the companies’ journey. On the side, he likes to tell stories through piano, guitar and the aperture of his camera.
Yongyu is an Android engineer at Polarr. Before Polarr, he used to work at Baidu and Samsung. He spends most of his spare time on singing and traveling because he believes all these moments will be lost in time, like tears in the rain.
Sam Sabri is head of growth at Polarr. Prior to Polarr, he worked as managing editor at Windows Central and as a marketing manager at Microsoft. At Polarr you'll find him doing most things community, product marketing and PR. When not working, you'll find him developing his photography.
Sean is the full-stack web developer of Polarr. From Eureka CA, he is the creator of PhotoGL. He enjoys cooking, gardening, and knife throwing.
Siyao is an iOS Engineer with a passion for design and product. Before joining Polarr, Siyao was at Forma, Uber and Path creating beautiful and magical apps. Outside of work, you can find Siyao climbing rocks in the summer and snowboarding in the winter.
PR and Marketing - China
Tiger is a passionate photographer and a experienced writer who love to ponder on the meaning of photography. He joined the team after reaching the highest scored contributor in Polarr's year long photo competition site.
Tim joined Polarr in February 2019. Before that, he spent time at a few different startups and a digital ad agency. Tim works on all of our iOS and Mac apps - like Polarr Photo Editor and 24FPS. When not hanging out with his fellow Polarrians, he enjoys art and spending time with his family.
Vamsi is an Artifical Intelligence Research Intern, who is focusing on using GANs to help users make the most of facial edits. A Computer Science undergraduate at Stanford University specializing in AI, Vamsi also enjoys watching and playing basketball, reading (mainly re-reading Harry Potter) and repeatedly rewatching The Office and Friends.
Victoria is an experience design chameleon who studied Art, Architecture, Theater Design (BA) and Computer Science (HCI) at Stanford. Aside from UX research and design development for Polarr’s Dev platform, she can be found brewing, crossword-ing, furniture designing, or painting.
Computer Vision Wrestler
Studied Computer Science at Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology. Believes in math and Bayesian reasoning. Fan of Harry Potter and the Methods of Rationality book. Used to participate in competitive algorithmic competitions and ACM ICPC in particular. In spare time practicing acrobatics and playing guitar.
Hailing from Taiwan, Water Chen has a soul that is created by sugar, music, video games, and everything nice. When not designing at Polarr, she enjoys traveling alone and working towards being a White Mage.
Wenchi Cheng believes that cross-platform is the future, so that's what he works on at Polarr. He's also a skilled Android developer. If he could clone himself (or have more time), he'd develop a game.
After co-founding Polarr, Xiao joined Tencent Games for three years before reuniting with the team. He is now working on cross-border communication as well as the operations of Polarr China. When not working, he is mostly playing FPS games or collecting playing cards.
Yi Kai is a self-taught photo retoucher. He's been using photo manipulation software for over 20 years. Four years ago, Yi Kai began using Polarr. Today, Yi Kai is helping out with QA and support at Polarr.

Ye is a ex-laywer turned photographer and writer who's obsessed with teaching people how to make great photos. After realizing Polarr is taking over the world, he decided to join the team.
